How much more of this unacceptable, hideous behaviour must the people of Lefkimmi stand?
Last night Lefkimmi looked more like Beirut than the beautiful village we knew and loved. People can't and won't put up with anymore of this injustice and the peaceful approach (which hasn't worked) has now been replaced with violence.
My God, where are we living? We're now frightened to speak incase we're overheard by the wrong people - instead of spending time with our families - we now dress in combat gear with scarves to protect ourselves against the chemicals and rubber bullets. Instead of going to the beach or out for a meal - our hours are spent running and being attacked by riot police.
We love Lefkimmi - but having witnessed the atrocities of last night, being frightened for our lives and those of our loved ones - one has to ask - where is this going to end? How many more victims will be claimed before we get the justice we so RIGHTLY deserve?
